Two models.
One language for the workshop.
A skill only means something in the context of the work. MOBILAR® keeps tasks and skills as two connected libraries built by automotive experts, then creates a customer-specific model from them.
The work you require.
The skills it takes.
The Task Model defines what technicians need to do. The Skills Model defines the capability that work requires. MOBILAR® connects the two, so skills are understood in the context of real work, not as isolated labels.
Task Model
What work needs to be done?
- The tasks a role performs
- The context and complexity of that work
- A shared reference for what the job requires
Skills Model
What capability does that work require?
- The skills linked to each task
- One skill can support several tasks
- Observable behaviour makes each skill concrete
Explore the two models behind this shared foundation below.
The work, graded by complexity.
Every task in the Task Library sits in one of four levels: simple, regular, difficult or complex. The level is set with objective criteria, so a task means the same thing in every country and dealer.
- Vehicle preparation
- Wheel and tyre service
- Fluid level check
- Brake system overhaul
- Simple electrical repair
- Gather technical information
- Intermittent electrical fault
- Air-conditioning diagnosis
- Software update and coding
- Diagnose intermittent CAN fault
- High-voltage system diagnosis
- ADAS calibration fault
The skills behind every task.
Skills are organised in skill groups. Each skill is linked to the tasks that need it, with a weight that says how much it counts in that task.
Within a task, a skill becomes concrete through skill measuring points: observable actions an assessor can score on a job card.
- Symptom analysis
- Read wiring diagrams
- Use oscilloscope
- Measure voltage and resistance
- Network communication
- High-voltage safety
- Torque and fastening
- Hydraulic systems
- Precision measurement
- Use technical information
- Document the repair
- Customer communication
From library to profile
in four steps.
| Profile | Typical work |
|---|---|
| Service technician | Maintenance, simple repairs |
| Mechanical technician | Regular mechanical repair |
| Diagnostic technician | Electrical and electronic diagnosis |
| Master technician | Complex faults, HV and ADAS |
Feedback loops keep the model current.
Assessment results, expert reviews and new vehicle technology feed back into the libraries. Your customer model stays aligned with the work, and the MOBILAR® library improves for every network.
People validate every change. The Agent drafts and maps; experts confirm.

The methodology page explains how MOBILAR® assesses on the job and what goes into every result.
Framework questions
Tasks and skills,
answered.
How the Task Model and Skills Model work together for your organisation.
Ask a questionThe Task Model describes the work: what is done, in which domain and at which complexity. The Skills Model describes the capability needed to do it. Keeping them as two connected libraries lets one skill serve many tasks.
Let’s talk.
Tell us what you’re working on. We’ll explore where MOBILAR® could help and whether a demo or a conversation about your network is the right next step.
